Yeah, that's the day the MAYOR has promised to have budget numbers. NO ONE WILL BE HAPPY! I bet some folks are going to be seeing RED. Actually that prediction gas been guaranteed by the MAYOR. All city departments save the schools are going to see their numbers go down.
Even with the potential increases in LPS'S budget it will fall far short of the over 200 million it is mandated to be. It may be time to start thinking about a new chapter in how we finance the schools. Answers may be found in CHAPTER 7, 11, or 13.
It will be interesting to see what the MSBA thinks about the city's poor financial standing. Don't be surprised if a new Pickering, or any other new school, is not built afterall. When Kevin revealed that all the new textbooks our schools need were not included in the proposed $151 million budget, I just shook my head. When a school district claims it cannot afford to buy textbooks, the most basic necessity, especially when working with a proposed $151 million budget, you know something is terribly wrong.
ReplyDeleteLOL, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THAT 151 MILLION DOLLAR PROPOSED BUDGET THE MAYOR CALLED A FANTASY?
DeleteYes, so when the Mayor cuts that proposed budget by MILLIONS, and she will, you can imagine what else our students, teachers, staff and schools will be deprived of. Every year it's the same thing! No money for textbooks or anything else for the students, teachers, staff, and schools, but TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars miraculously appear during executive sessions so exorbitant raises can be given out to those who sit in offices on Bennett Street. I bet they have all the necessary resources they need to do their jobs.
DeleteNo matter the party, the politics are the same.
DeleteYou two ought to get a couple of tin cans and a string so you can talk instead of writing to each other every day.
ReplyDeleteAhh, yet another intelligent comment by someone anonymous. Thanks for the laugh!
