WHAT'S THE CHANCES OF SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENING AT LPS?

A university president cuts his own salary to raise the salaries of the lowest paid employees. NBC's Kevin Tibbles reports:
Interim University President Raymond Burse slashes his salary by $90,000 to raise the salary of the 24 lowest paid employees by as much as 40 percent.

  1. LPS definitely pays exorbitant salaries to some. For example, the secretary for the school committee gets paid a 6 figure salary (or pretty close to it). Other positions such as administrative assistants and confidential secretary's get paid more than many of our underpaid teachers. This is a problem! Of course, then there are the high paid positions that leave you wondering just what exactly that person does day after day. For example, the district compliance officer is paid a 6 figure salary, yet I have not read a single state review where the district was in full compliance in all areas. In fact, there are some areas where the district continually fails to be fully compliant. Why?

    1. What is your reasoning that LPS pays "exorbitant salaries to some"? What is your expertise to comment on what people do day after day and to question their salary? As I recall from the time that the Compliance Officer was hired, it was because of non-compliance is certain areas and the idea was to have that person work to systematically get the district in compliance. Just out of curiosity, how many "fully compliant" districts are there in MA?

  2. EDIC is paying 6 figure salaries and what businesses have come to Lynn that hire Lynn residents in the past 6 years? The Mayor is paid one of the highest salaries in the state and what improvements or advancements have been made in this city compared to the surrounding cities? Why expect more of schools than you do of the rest of this city? It probably is the only city in country where half the councilors have no college credentials and get voted in by the number of relatives/friends they have and not expertise.

    1. Under what law or ordinance are city councilors required to have college credentials? Are you privy to what candidates the voters cast their ballots? How do you know who their relatives/friends are? Please explain what expertise is required to hold the office?

  3. This is about leadership. It makes me proud to say my sister-in-law got her Ph. D. in chemistry from UK.
