LORI LAYS DOWN THE LAW

One of the biggest issues facing LPS is the overall lack of parental involvement. Parents in this city need to step up and take responsibility for their own children's progress in school and be held accountable when they fail to do so! Classical has over 1600 students. Students, teachers and staff use a fantastic online program to post assignments, grades, attendance, upcoming events and to communicate with each other. However, about 70% of parents do not bother to use this program. The good news is almost 100% of students do use it.
36% of incoming freshman, 13% of sophomores, 32% of juniors and 24% of seniors got an F on their Social Studies summer reading assignments. On the ELA summer reading assignment, 49% of incoming freshman, 26% of sophomore, 24% of juniors and 16% of seniors got a D or F. These assignments were counted as test grades.
Newsflash parents.....it is YOUR responsibility to make sure your kid is doing his/her schoolwork and homework and that he/she is doing well in school.

  1. Maybe the author of this blog should follow your advice...just saying?....

  2. Just as a public service to us, Mr. Stanley, could you find out what the name of that online Classical system is? I noticed it once before and thought it was great too! Is it a widely used program, or just something obscure that Classical simply discovered for their own use? I'm an educator unaffiliated with Lynn.

  3. Thanks! I even just Googled and found where someone uses it with Moodle on her own K-12 classroom site. Moodle is the college/university in-use system in so many places around here, so the idea of mixing both of them is very appealing to me. You've really helped me out here!
    Thanks again!
