Dear Elected Officials,

I am writing you all today to ask you to consider renaming COOK STREET PARK to CRANE COMMUNITY PARK. Her tireless work is LEGENDARY in the Highlands and beyond. With monies already earmarked for the park from the recent BOND and appropriations already approved by both the COUNCIL and the MAYOR, the time is right for a positive makeover not tainted by history of drugs and gang violence or or national reports of fights viewed by millions.

This is NOT a difficult political decision whereby there must be concerns about hurting the feelings of those responsible for the previous nomenclature. The park is named after a street for goodness sake. What a wasted opportunity to commemorate someone. That someone should be DR. CLAIRE CRANE.

Since this is not a difficult decision, I expect a speedy response. As always, I will post that response in my blog. Go ahead and answer at Lynn.School.Watch@g.mail.com. Since apparently I do seem to have trouble getting written responses, if necessary I will make PERSONAL contact.

This tribute is very important to me and I am prepared to LOBBY very HARD. WHILE I UNDERSTAND THIS DECISION FALLS UNDER THE PURVIEW OF THE COUNCIL AND THE MAYOR I am also sending a copy of this letter to the LYNN SCHOOL COMMITTEE and any other official that I think may be willing to assist in this endeavor. I will, of course make public my contacts and their response to the extent the law allows.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Stanley H. Wotring, Jr.
