DOLLAR DAZE - FAIRY TALES CAN COME TRUE

I think the story starts out, "IT WAS THE BEST OF TIMES, IT WAS THE WORST OF TIMES". It was the best of times for he people who pulled out these plum jobs out of LPS'S educational pie and it was the worst of times for the rest pf us who got served up a failing education.

THE GOLDEN GRANT GOOSE laid several EGGS that crack me up. I've previously pointed out how LPS's DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM makes $111,371 and the ASST. DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM pulls down $89,603, all from grants and nothing from the regular budget.

But there is a Superintendent's dozen of GOLDEN EGG'S of grant goodies remaining. First we have an Asst. Director of EARLY CHILDHOOD SAFETY $91,878. ASST. DIRECTOR of READING/ELA at $92,701,  ASST. DIRECTOR of MATHEMATICS $83,654,  ASST. DIRECTOR OF HEALTH and PHYSICAL EDUCATION at $82,711,  and an  ADULT ED. ESL TEACHER at $ 63,741. Also in the nest was the previously mentioned hatch-ling, a STIMULUS PROJECT MANAGER at $104,310. What's really strange is that in this modern time when we have developed to post a budget on the Internet for all the world to see, we somehow couldn't find the money to pay for a DIRECTOR of SCIENCE (beam me up Scotty).

It doesn't stop there. The CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION nest was padded with 18.8 other positions totaling $1,198,331 in salaries all out of grant money. (MAYBE WE SHOULD RENAME THE DEPARTMENT - CURRICULUM AND DESTRUCTION)

LYNN, LYNN, CITY OF FRIENDS.
