AND THE ANSWER IS......

Maybe if I speak her language, MATH, she will understand,(DR LATHAM I MEAN). For me a POET, maybe a MSL (MATH as a second language). According to information I learned from attending last Wed's presentation by the DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION that the good doctor failed to attend, was that  for every dollar you invest in EARLY EDUCATION you get back FOUR in return.

I wonder how elementary school LIBRARIES factor into that? Raising the interest level in reading multiplies the dividends in the logarithms on the learning curve. The derivation of indifference is decline.

  1. LPS has never had an interest in school libraries. Nineteen years ago there were no elementary school libraries or middle school libraries in Lynn. The library power grant opened 6 elementary libraries and the ball was supposed to keep rolling from that seed money. That never happened sadly. A case of take the money and run except for the few principals who embraced the idea. If you think about it carefully though, would you rather have a classroom teacher or a librarian when money it tight? Hard choices ...

  2. Anyone that drives around and looks at these elementary schools can see that Lynn never considered learning a priority. There is money to add air conditioning to an auditorium but no money for the schools. When is the new middle schools getting built?

  3. If as you say LPS has never had an interest in libraries (I agree) and we are a failinh district, one and one makes two so......

  4. As for the comments about priorities and spending, that is why I feel that not only the LSC race is important but the city council race is important because most of the money allocated to LPS comes from the city.
