HOW DOES KIPP COMPETE?

At KIPP Lynn, 30.8% of teachers were rated exemplary, 38.5% proficient, and 30.8% needs improvement.

  • Leslie Greenberg Most of their teachers stay a few years and then move on. They have to be availability 24-7, in person or by cell. The pay also sucks. This was told to me by upper level administration at Kipp.

  1. Most KIPP teachers come from upper level colleges, Teach for America, and other higher level thinking programs. Most Lynn teachers come from Salem State...cookie cutter education. MOst Kipp teachers have travelled, have experienced other cities/ cultures, etc. Most lynn teachers have never been to the Peabody Essex Museum. KIPP teachers have an opportunity to move up the ladder as young people be ause they are good at what they do. Lynn teachers have to put in the years before they can get promoted no matter what their qualifications are. The KIPP pay is not bad ...teacher s are on contracts , they are paid what they are worth. Tjese are all the qualities you seem to want in educators yet you only have criticism for KIPP ... These are dedicated people who aren't looking for a pay check at the end of theday, they are professional. Teaching in Lynn has turned into a blue collar profession. Not the best or talented but those who can't do much else.

  2. No upper Level KIPP administrator would ever say that to,you my friend. And if by chance they did, and they were found out,,they would never be returning. The philosophy is rigorous and well received .

  3. I believe KIPP teachers are sincere as evidenced by the veracity of support. However, I do believe they should all have BLOOD TESTS for KOOL-QID intoxication.
