Dear school committee members,

I know I have in the past advocate for voting to take at the schools, specifically at Ford School. While I still do support voting at the schools, in light of recent mass shootings I have retooled my position.

Although I realize in the past you have managed to coincide voting days for the general elections and whenever possible other voting days with teacher Personal Development Days with election ones so that students would not be present. However given the number of primary and special election days, this is not always possible.

Voting at Sisson Elementary in the last primary caused me to contemplate the enormous security risks at stake. While I do not know the answer, I strongly urge everyone take into consideration what’s at stake and do a risk vs. reward assessment.

Hopefully since many of you are smarter and more educated than me, someone will be able to come up with a solution that addresses the concerns raised.

Sincerely,

Stan
