LOCKED IN FOR LOCKDOWNS

Now I have been in a battle or two before for voting at schools. I have even made the argument that it models good citizenship for kids. My biggest complaint was the almost blatant gerrymandering that went into choosing which schools got to serve as voting places.

Those old opinions and positions I had were several mass shootings ago. Currently I have a more reserved, cautious opinion. I know they usually try and schedule the general elections to coincide with teacher professional days so that school is not in session thereby avoiding any security concerns.

Today being a primary wasn't one of those days. Schools would be a very soft target for high value publicity. A couple of cops hanging around could be easily overpowered or distracted while someone else slips down the hall. The potential terror could easily become massive.

This is a different world we live in and maybe we should not allow voting to take place in schools anymore while class is in session.
