Lynn is not just the only urban district facing such a
deficit. Lynn is the ONLY district in the entire state facing such a deficit!
The fact that city and school officials continue to whine that the NSS policies
are unfair and use this as an excuse why there is such a significant deficit is
absurd. City and school leaders know that the majority of Lynn parents and
voters are not uninvolved in school and city affairs in general, nevermind on
more complex issues such as NSS. Therefore, city and school officials know they
can spew whatever nonsense and excuses they want and the majority of Lynn
parents and voters won't even question it. I have yet to hear an answer to this
very simple question...How does a city that significantly underfunds the
schools by millions each year and a school department that claims they cannot
afford basic educational necessities for the students because they lack the
funding manage to come up with tens of thousands of dollars each year to give
out administrative raises? Perhaps they use common core math for their
calculations.
Thanks,

ReplyDeleteDoes the Item and/or the reporters get any sort of business or money from LPS and/or the super? I ask because they embellish the tales in every article they publish about her in an attempt to make her appear a much better leader than she actually is.For instance, this article states she has chartered a course with majority support from Lynn's community. Really? How do they know that? Where are they getting this information from? Lynn's community consists of 90,000 plus residents and 50,000 registered voters. The superintendent is not hired or elected by Lynn's community. She is hired by the school committee which consists of just 6 members of the community plus the Mayor. The only "majority support" she receives is a 4-3 vote. Nice try though.
Funny you should ask that. As I have pointed out several times, the same PR firm hired by the LPS and who publishes their publication THE EDUCATOR also publishes the ITEM. How's that for objectivity?
