This is pretty new to me and I am still working my sources but I do have some troubling news to share. In an effort to rewrite history and make Lynn white again a mural painted inside FORD SCHOOL was either taken down (I guess it was done on plywood) or painted over. The mural was painted by GORDON COLLEGE students around over ten years ago and there was a whole dedication ceremony and everything.

That would qualify the artwork as a gift or donation and as such could not be removed without coming before the school committee. I showed you the policy last spring when the NASA banner disappeared. It was ignored then and I have a suspicion that the banner is still missing. I hope somebody sets me straight.
It's probably just a coincidence that the mural featured a likeness of DR. CRANE. Some people can't get over their own pettiness. The really sad thing is that the mural represents the diversity that is the HIGHLANDS where people have learned that it's okay to be different. This latest DESTRUCTION of the past is not okay!
The school members are so clueless about their role and responsibilities and the laws and local ordinance they are responsible for upholding. They think their position consists of simply attending meetings here and there and voting on specific issues, many which they have no idea what they are voting for or against. They believe they work for the super when it is actually the other way around. As a group, they do a disservice to the students who attend Lynn Public schools. It is tragic.
ReplyDeleteIf you remember I ran for LSC 3 years ago and finished LAST. Evidently most people are quite content not knowing what is going on!

ReplyDeleteFeel free to suggest another one that accurately represents the removal of role models. By the way for something to be SLANDEROUS it has to be untrue and direct. Besides maybe I was channeling Rosseau.
