School candidate looks outside the classroom,
THE GOOD - Well to start we come from VERY similar academic backgrounds, sort of. While he graduated from two IVY LEAGUE colleges, PRINCETON and HARVARD, I graduated from one college, WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN, that had two girls dorms with IVY covered back walls. Yes in some circles, WVWC was called the HARVARD OF THE HILLS. (Okay I made that up!)
I really like the fact that he realizes that a good education is more than how the books crack:
We also need to make sure that the knowledge our students gain in school is complemented by the development of the social-emotional skills they will need to succeed in life,”
SMART MAN!
THE BAD - I have to admit I do get a little nervous when I hear him talk about matching up employers needs with LPS:
He said public education is undergoing “significant changes” that require elected officials who grasp ways schools can “improve and adapt to the 21st-century economy.”
On the surface it's hard to find fault with that statement. Not every kid is a "FIT" for college and the world economy is changing. Given his extensive business background and his work for PATRICK ON POLICY, I do worry he is a little bit tooo big for his britches. Mostly the LSC follows (sometimes) policy not makes it.
Although I have never heard him utter a word of support for them, I do have this recurring "nightmare" he is a closet charter school supporter. Maybe it's because I don't seem to recall him speaking against them. Come out JARED, you feel better about yourself. WE WON'T JUDGE!
Actually I will but if I told him the truth, we'd never find out anything. Maybe he's a TRANS. Of course I'm speaking educational, you know transitioning from a "PUBLIC" to a "PRIVATE" educational supporter.
Well one things for sure, you definitely could not call him UGLY. Such perfect teeth, such perfect hair. I wonder if he is a GEL or a MOUSSE man?
