CONNERY CLEAN-UP CURTAILED

At the last LSC meeting JOHN FORD moved to have the playground removed at CONNERY SCHOOL.  He claimed to be acting on the advice of ISD HEAD, MIKE DONOVAN citing safety concerns. the playground equipment was in bad shape true but it seems a little ironic that MR. FORD who has always been an advocate for physical fitness would initiate the process. Guess he was wearing his BUILDING AND GROUNDS hat that day.

He did try and add a little sugar to the bad medicine so it would go down smooth by promising to check with JAMIE MARSH at city hall to see if there was grant money available to replace the equipment. The only problem is that as the MAYOR correctly pointed out LPS owns the school property so NO city grants would be available. NOW ISN'T THAT SPECIAL. MR. FORD was clearly surprised. Apparently WARD 6 Councilman PETER CAPANO had been very upset that the playground equipment was to be removed. Suddenly so were the members of the LSC. Where was the money going to come from?

So it was decided to rope off the equipment to safely secure the area for the time being. They could have just put up "NO TRESPASSING" signs but probably thought better of it since some of the elementary kids can't read. This will be done until such time as we can figure out what's going on. Where have you heard that line before?

Anyway DR. LATHAM did come up with a good idea. She suggest maybe a GO-FUND ME page to test out that CROWDFUNDING thing JARED'S been talking about.
