Dear Dr. Latham,

Good morning! According to a statement at a recent school committee meeting, 

the KnowAtom program and was to be replaced by Rick Held's own program It was 

my understanding that the KA program covered the 3rd - 8th.

According to published reports MR. HELD'S new program only covers K-2 this year 

and only 3rd - 5th next year. I find this GLARING gap of instruction most troubling 

and fear future backsliding on MCAS results to the detriment not only to the individual 

students but to the entire district as a whole.

Many times I have heard you champion the importance of data driven instruction but in 

this case, your core values are called into question. Hopefully you will clarify your 

intentions for both me and my readers. Failure to do so only lends credence to calls for 

concern.
