LPS SACRIFICES MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS?

New lessons to be learned in Lynn schools

Latham said the new science program will be introduced at the elementary level this year as well. 

In the last public meeting before the BUDGET HEARING we were told that for SCIENCE, KnowAtom would be no longer. This new untested in-house program was supposed to be cheaper YET the actual cost of KA was never provided so that we could see a BASIC comparison. When everything is totaled for this "NEW" program I am sure it would be surprising. Not surprisingly NO one has answered my letters on this.When the MCAS results become PUBLIC real soon I guess we can look at the BENEFIT portion of the analysis.

Curiously what is missing are the educational needs of our middle school students. Why is that? Are we wanting to open the NEW MARSHALL with a LEVEL 4 designation? That would be embarrassing so how can we IGNORE this critical age group?

UNLESS. . .

we are keeping KA for that group of kids while we roll out RICK'S experiment? I hope at least that is true. Guess we'll find out soon. If that were to be true that would mean we were lied to before when we were told KA was being cancelled. I wouldn't like being deceived again but I would be happy for the kids.

I guess "DECEIVED" is the operative word. With proper editing even a lie can seem like the truth.
