THE MAYOR'S NEW ATM IS SPELLED LPS
The state just sent LYNN $3.7 million in Ch. 70 to help offset the reductions in reimbursements due to their redfinition of what it means to be poor. As of right now LPS can expect to receive $0 of that I've been told the city plans to use that money to pay health insurance premiums.
I understand there is in the works a tightening in the language at the state level to prevent at least some of the pillage and plundering of the school system by certain city officials.

Health insurance premiums for who and can this aid be legally used for that?
ReplyDeleteI heard for city employees as well as school employees. I'm sure they'll work the numbers. Bottom line is I have a hard time seeung Baker pressing her. Now, the ATTORNEY GENERAL and the LEGISLATURE that is a different story.
DeleteShe can't use chapter 70 aid for things not approved by the state. Therefore, the state level is where changes need to happen.
ReplyDeleteShe cannot use ch 70 funds to pay for health premiums for city side employees. All ch 70 aid must be spent on public education, so school employee premiums can be paid with these funds.
ReplyDeleteI am not so sure you are correct, anyway the money will go into the general fund and be adequately laundered.
