Acting Principals at Washington and Ingalls Elementary Schools
Superintendent Catherine Latham has announced that Ingalls Elementary School Principal Irene Cowdell will temporarily become the Acting Principal of the Washington Elementary School effective immediately. | |
While Ms. Cowdell takes over the reins at Washington, Ingalls Program Specialist Anthony Frye will become Acting Principal at Ingalls. Former Washington Principal John Licorish resigned at the end of July. |
BUT I GOTTA SAY SOMETHING......
Seems both a strange and sad turn of events for what was supposed to become the flagship of LPS as it tried to transition to a modern appproach to education. Not only was the WASHINGTON SCHOOL proven not to be the INNOVATION SCHOOL it tried to position itself as but as it turns out, it wasn't even that innovative.
Obviously this lack of success says more about LPS than it says about JOHN. There has been an incremental backing away from the lofty ideals this school was re-opened with. First the WASHINGTON INNOVATION STEM SCHOOL was found not to be an innovation school so it morphed into just the WASHINGTON STEM SCHOOL. Now after reducing LPS'S commitment to science with the replacement of he district-wide KNOW-ATOM program for an inferior substitute as acknowledged by LPS's own Asst Director of C & I for SCIENCE, RICHARD HELD. You have to wonder how all of this played into LICORISH'S decision to leave so suddenly. The man came with credentials.
NOW THEY'VE EVEN DROPPED THE "STEM" FROM THE NAME. SOUNDS LIKE A MESSY DIVORCE TO ME AND I KNOW DIVORCE.
