GETTING WITH THE PROGRAM
An interesting appointment at the last LSC meeting. Fresh off her stint as WRAP-AROUND czar. DR. JENNIFER WU. A Harvard educated professional, she is more than qualified for the job.
Here's where it gets interesting though, since she came here because of the RACE TO THE TOP GRANT and when the grant ran out that meant LPS had to find some place for her and pick up her salsry or let her go. This change in position was not a lateral move. As important as a PROGRAM SPECIALIST might be, I figure it could be done with someone we pay would far less.
It is not lost on me that this position placement is in the friendly confines of a trusted princiPAL. I hope she does well. I wouldn't want to rush to any judgement like HOOD'S history of RUSH lunches.
I wonder what's become of the WRAP AROUND program now that the money is gone and we are left holding the bag. Which we now got to refill with our own money generated from your taxes.

I was going through my email folders and came across the very first email I sent to the school committee. It was October 14, 2010. My son was in Breed and we found out at open house (6 weeks into the school year) that he did not have books or a teacher yet for one of his classes. It was also the first time I had spoken to Dr. Latham and evidently my opinion of her after the brief phone conversation was the same as it is now....LOL!! Five years later, LPS is still facing the same issues (and many more). If my son had had books and a teacher all those years ago, LPS may never have even heard of Lori D'Amico. Bahahahaaa!! It's their own fault!

Well I understand what this is trying to say. Yeah, "GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING!". Even in the coal field of Appalachia they do teach some higher-order thinking. But then again I have been reading a little while so I don't get overwhelmed by the IMAGES.
This one slide is very efficient in a bad way. Two groups are "put down" at once - WOMEN and HASIDIC JEWS.
More likely than not when little kids walk away from this lesson and reflect back they are not as likely to remember the sophisticated concept that is trying to be portrayed or the lack of the use of an apostrophe to show possession but rather the reinforcing of BIGOTRY and MISGONY.

Unfortunately LVTI Football team lost to Whittier 6-0 earlier today. I am happy to report that TRIPPY recovered yet another onsides kick. I tell you I taught that boy everything he knows about falling down!

THE SCIENCE OF SLEAZE!
Another image shown to FIRST GRADERS in the testing of this development of this new science curriculum that your school committee members all voted to have put in our schools this year. It was already tested in 4 elementary schools last year.
I am having a hard time understanding the role messy, dirty underwear plays in science.Remember these are 6 year-old little boys and girls who haven't developed a lot of higher order thinking skills and images are EXTRA powerful. There is an abundance of simpler and safer examples of differentiation.
