WOTRING ANSWERS IMPOSTER CHARGES
"Yes, it is true I have never taken an EDUCATION course while studying psychology, chemistry, and philosophy at WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE (GO BOBCATS). However I leaned a lot about learning when I had to relearn how to walk again. Luckily I didn't have to learn how to talk again, that came back to me all sudden-like after six weeks of silence. I even was granted a permanent slur."
WOTRING pointed to his limited teaching experience to show his understanding of some of the school dynamics. "I first taught at FARMDALE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL in LOUISVILLE, KY. It was a small, private NAZARENE school that seemed to be for kids who were kicked out of the public schools. Probably not really but there were some ROUGH characters. I taught MATH, SCIENCE, SPANISH (even though I don't speak it) and are you ready for this - girls eighth-grade phys. ed."
After a short lived career there, my next teaching stint was at the ELKINS MOUNTAIN SCHOOL, a residential juvenile treatment facility. "These were adolescent boys, 13-18, who had broken various laws and weren't fit for foster homes. I taught SCIENCE, worked in the LIBRARY, and ENGLISH at different times. I stopped teaching after while teaching ENGLISH I had to break up a fight in class between two boys, one of whom was there for the murder of his aunt and another boy about my size."
Despite his public distaste for the legal profession, WOTRING proudly points to his imaginary, honorary law degree which had been bestowed through a battlefield promotion. "I've spent more time before judges than most young associates", WOTRING joked.
According to WOTRING, the MOST hurtful charge was the one involving my lack of poetic experience Although it is true that I lack formal training in poetic persuasion perhaps but I have written a couple books and I ran a workshop at the WEST VIRGINIA WRITERS CONFERENCE. And then there is the fact of my coincidental relationship to two Oscar winning films, MY LEFT FOOT and THE POSTMAN but that;s a story for another day..

WOTRING A FRAUD?
Investigative reporters here at the WATCH have uncovered documents that show WOTRING has NEVER had an EDUCATION class. When confronted with this fact, WOTRING blushed and mumbled something about learning about learning in several psychology classes.
What is most damning is the fact that it was also discovered he has only had one poetry class yet he openly tries to pass himself off as a "POET:. DISCOUNT.....DOUBLE-CHECK.
Could this be the hidden meaning behind his APRIL FOOLS DAY CAMPAIGN?

THE APPLE OF THEIR EYES
Tired of staring at the backside of the horse, the LSC voted last Thursday night to put the cart out front. I am talking about the fact they voted to send JOHN FORD to be a VOTING delegate to the Annual Meeting of the Mass. Assoc. of School Committees (MASC).
Seems like an important position to grant to someone who may not be a member of the LSC after Nov, 5. MR. FORD is not special, the same goes for any current member. That's the nature of the electoral process.
You would think a better date could have been chosen to hold the meeting. One thing is for sure though, that cart must have been holding apples because I seem to be upsetting a lot of people.

PICKERING GETS PHYSICAL!
The Fitness Walk was a great success and it was a beautiful day. Thank you to all the students and parents that contributed!
SCIENCE IS ABOUT DISCOVERY
It has came to my attention that we here at the WATCH have not lashed out at LORRAINE. That is about to change. We must open the GATE(LY) to EXPOSURE.
I must say I like her Science background. Back in a former life before all of my brain damage when I used to be smart, I was considered somewhat of a CHEMISTRY WHIZ. Science was my highest score on the ACT, so I am impressed that she is some sort of trainer at the MUSEUM OF SCIENCE. The woman has some credentials.
Therein though lies the problem, some thing she said at the round table last Wed. at "The City's Voice" just didn't sit too well with me. Obviously science is her passion and she applauded the hiring of a new ASST. DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION FOR SCIENCE. In fact she said she had suggested it. I am sure she did but I bet all of the other APPLICANTS for the position made similar suggestions, just each one had a different particular person to fill the role.
The facts are she didn't get the position then retired and ran for SCHOOL COMMITTEE. That in no way means that she will not be a GOOD person to fill that role, in fact she has had the best line in the campaign of everybody. It occurred at the LynnCAM debate.
"You've trusted me for 33 years with your children, now I am asking you to trust me with 1 of your 6 votes."
Darn that was powerful. Very poetic.
However in the interest of total transparency, the timeline would seem to suggest that running for school committee was sort of a consolation prize.
Now I've gone and done it, I'm a gonna have every"cotton-pickin"body mad at me,

KEEPING UP WITH THE COMMITTEE
Sorry I couldn't make the LSC meeting last night in person. I was home watching on-line the long running reality show, LSC - 50 SHADES OF TRUTH. It was quite a production, very well orchestrated. From the well staged dialogue, one would have to believe that no firing took place. Although I don't believe I heard none was ever threatened..
In the end I believe the right thing ended up being done. Of course not before the WATCH was whipped. Still, I would go again with my sources which I believe to be telling the truth to me at the time. After some scrutiny was brought to bear on this incident, I believe in the end we got TRUTH 2.0.
I ask you who lives life like they show on those reality shows anyway. There is a difference between reality and actuality.
MAYBE I WAS WRONG BUT HEY I'VE HAD SOME SERIOUS BRAIN DAMAGE

FULL-TIME, SOME OF THE TIME?
Honestly, I was troubled by a couple of things that were said in our DISCUSSION last night by the candidates for school committee that showed up. One of which was JOHN FORD'S claim that he considers this his FULL TIME job.
There can be NO DOUBT he does invest a lot of time on some of the issues. Something just doesn't JIVE though. Everybody knows he IS ALSO a legislative aide or whatever the title is to REP. STEVE WALSH.
Maybe someone ought to be comparing W4's and time-sheets. I would think the taxpayer, huh?
I guess it helps to have friend's in high places. Me, I got no friends. Well, not many that will state so publicly. Stray bullets you know/

HEY TAXPAYERS! WHAT DOES LPS HAVE AGAINST FREE?
Here are some examples of the EDUCATIONAL content available FREE. Supposedly some people are using it nut they are as FUZZY WITH THE TRUTH as I am CRYPTIC with the actual reality, that is when I am not being BLUNT.
Tomorrow's EDUCATION will be by the INTERNET. Like I've said over abd over, "We are notgoing to build our way out of this mess!" Anyway...... here's an example"

NOT REALLY ROUND TABLE
Good format for tonight's LynnCam round table. Interesting with all the busing drama and how all these people who said I was wrong and bringing forth faulty info YET nooooobody bothered to publicly bring it up.
Thanks to moderator JOE SPINA for giving LYNN SCHOOL WATCH a big plug and asking if any other candidates for school committee had a BLOG. The answer was NO.Stan brings it to you.
IF YOU WANT TO KEEP INFORMED, KEEP IT HERE!

With all the the emotion and commotion about the bus transportation present by the council president may have set a precedent. Perhaps in a couple of weeks a bus could be dispatched to give Mr. Weeks a ride to the meeting of the council.

PAC WAS PACKED TONIGHT
Before beginning the meeting tonight on BASIC RIGHTS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION some housekeeping business was taken care of. Some positions were voted on and filled . LISA BISHOP was elected chairperson, LORI ARMENIO was elected Vice-chair, and another AT-LARGE BOARD MEMBER elected was ME.
These newly elected members round out the officers DEBBIE SUTHERLAND, secretary, MARION WILLIAMS, treasurer,MAUREEN BENEA, at-large board member, and CHRISMELEY BERNABE, an another at-large board member.
LSC member RICK STARBARD along with about 40 other people were in attendance taking the opportunity to educate himself on the issues that play a part in a significant of the LPS budget.
Probably what waas and will be a big reason for the increased attendance at this and probably future meetings was the translator present. Not only did he speak SPANISH, he also had a piece of luggage with those fancy headsets.

ROAD TRIP TO LEARNING
Fifth Graders: Tomorrow is the big day. I hope everyone is packing for their week long adventure in Freedom, NH. Everyone should be there by 8:30. Make sure you check out the weather forecast which you can access through the Nature's Classroom blog. Any questions, please ask!!!!
CHEW ON THIS
An interesting concept someone else wrote -
You know I have a sneaking suspicion given the millions of dollars spent on food prepared elsewhere, out of state even, that you could fund this idea with even a smaller tax.
Fresher food, jobs created.
With all the culinary development going on in the city both in serving and producing the procurement of cooking this idea ought to digest well.
If city council and school committee rebuilt school cafeterias and staffed them, (or created a central LPS kitchen) I bet we could provide better meals with less waste and put people to work. And, I bet 3% meals/entertainment tax would pay for it.

OVERALL THERE HAS BEEN IMPROVEMENT ON OUR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCILS
Thanks in no small part to LIL'LORI there have been many steps taken to re-establish these models of parental engagement and administration cooperation. There can always be argument whether the letter of the law is being followed. The problem of which law? It looks to me that there are at least three that cover the formation of SCHOOL COUNCILS.
This confusion is standard in our legal system with competing jurisdiction that only serves to isolate reality from the truth. Oops. there goes my sanity, You see why I love lawyers?
Anyway to make a long story short, a good faith effort has been made to rekindle this vehicle, I mean letters have been sent home after calls were made. Criticism can be constructive.

BEING DRUG-FREE STARTS AT THE TOP
If elected, I will VOLUNTARILY submit to a DRUG TEST and I urged all of the other candidates for LYNN SCHOOL COMMITTEE to join me in this pledge. I feel strongly that the drug infestation in our schools must be stopped and what better example could be set than having the school committee members submit to screening? Be a leader I say, unless you have something to hide. Role models shouldn't have to model their roles.
C'MON WHO'LL JOIN ME?
C'MON WHO'LL JOIN ME?
FOR THE LOVE OF LAWYERS
By now everyone has heard of PHELAN'S ill fated joy ride on a bus from FORD bound for points west. Again let me say TIM that was STUPID, you should have asked for permission, even PHELAN'S have to follow protocol. I have already told you this is a different world. Remember 9-11?
As opposed to 911 which is always manned by a DISPATCHER. (See the lengths I will go to to get a smooth transition.) Well bus companies also have DISPATCHERS. Well the one that was on duty and gave the okay to take TIM was punished for her transgression. I heard fired then I heard demoted or some sort of retraining.
Word has it, feeling bad for his temporary (I hope) in sanity MR. PHELAN worked out a PLEA DEAL in order that the DISPATCHER who clearly felt pressured to give permission due to the position he possessed.
Clearly the DISPATCHER made a mistake, reeducating (aren't the schools all about education?) but TIM made a BIGGER mistake.
HOWEVER.....
that was not the biggest mistake
or should I say rather miscalculation. You see, sorry TIM you just don't have that much pull. Now if it would have been me, maybe I could have pulled it off. Well TIM I hear the DISPATCHER did get FIRED.
Somebody who apparently lacks a heart as well as hair pushed to have termination as the retribution. Vengeance is a dish sometimes served hot and this particular recipe calls for ground chuck. So a single parent parent with a special needs child soon will be joining me with nothing to do.
I only wish I could stand tall and put a name to a face but this darn ole scoliosis has me eye level with evil

EXPOSURE DISCLOSURE
The LSC meetings are supposed to move to BENNETT STREET by the end of October. It's goog that the business of running the schools is getting out of the schools so the school can get down to the business of education.
I hope the cameras will be ready so that LPS doesn't start running in the dark again. I would haye to have to hold a candlelight vigil.

DR. LATHAM, PLEASE HELP JUDY
DOC you are renown for your tour mathematical acuity! The MAYOR who chairs the LSC seems to have a problem understanding a LINEAR line of thinking. You see in the DEBATE last night she CIRCLED back to talk about using the old MARSHALL as swing space.
Hmmm,,,,,,,
Didn't everybody say that it was in too bad of condition. Shucks didn't we even budget 3.5 MILLION DOLLARS in the to tear it down and that was part of the BOND that passed? I better watch I got spanked for daring to bring up questions about the BOND before. Well, getting spanked isn't always bad.

TIM TAKES THE HIGH ROAD THRU THE HIGHLANDS
It seems that TIM "STOWAWAY" PHELAN boarded the bus bound for the the Kindergarten Center. Let's get this straight, it was STUPID not to seek or get permission first. Yeah you are the CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT but that ain't that big of a deal anymore. We now live in a world of school shootings and "pressure cooker" bombs. Really TIM, you really know how to take on trouble..
Surprisingly the topic didn't even come up at tonight's HIGHLAND'S COALITION debate, especially when you factor in the factor that the point of origination of the destination of the kinder situation was the FORD SCHOOL.This finding of facts was a little bit late, the time for discovery was over. Still you got to give him credit for being inquisitive.
Honestly you should have known not to expect any good ole boy network when you were taken to the woodshed by the girl's club when your wife was in line to take on the COBBETT catastrophe.
Tonight was topped off by some slams that I swear the MAYOR was trying to take a page out of mt book (Really I write on a computer) and use some low blows to cut him down to size. It appears you have already been cut down to size, pint size. The difference is though, well you see I'm funny..

BUSING BUDGET BLOWN, BABY!
This post us simply to give you something to think about. In order to open the Kindergarten Center for three schools - BRICKETT, FORD and TRACY $270,000 was budgeted for transportation. Okay that sounds like a lot but what does the figure look like now that 2 classes from SISSON because of MOLD in the rented rooms in the church and some pre-school classes from INGALLS are about to be added?

HOT IN THE CITY
Once again I am sorry to say my crazy life got in the way of my due diligence of my self imposed responsibility of demanding accountability so here I am watching last week's LSC meeting and I noticed something that disturbed me watching the online recording. In the end during DR. LATHAM'S superintendent's report I noticed she asked or rather told everybody she needed a few minutes to set up the SMART Board for a presentation.
COOL! VISUAL AIDS!
Funny though I didn't hear any gavel or motion. A violation of ROBERT'S RULES perhaps. Well BOB is kind of stuffy sometimes. It's not so much the pause that perplexed me as it was the killing of the microphones during it. The meeting is subject to the OPEN MEETING law not the sometimes OPEN MEETING law.
You never know what information you can pick up from a HOT mike. Right MR. FORD?
