THE MAKING OF MICHEAL
Two things though, 1. Necessarily his views can't help but a little slanted because either he pushes the company line or lines up with the opposition. Naturally that's the way it always works, it just been pretty definitive over the years that the WATCH has been active most major decisions always ended up 4 - 3. It was always pretty clear cut. Being the LOSER I am you know which side I lined up with. At this point I would like to make a distinction from losing and being wrong and 2. He is nor as funny as ME. (What's the deal with the videos on the car? I expect comedians broadcasting from cars. He is not funny.) Most lawyers are like that. the big difference is that I don't have to worry about offending anybody. I mean mine is not an elected position and I do manage to offend everybody. Hard to get elected that way. But hey it allows me to spit the truth or my version of it. We live in a time if ALTERNATIVE FACTS.

IN PRAISE OF KING TUT
Okay I have been away for a while. In fact I am not even really sure I'm back. There are a plethora of reasons why I went away, some personal, some physical. A lot of things in my life have changed or are changing but you know what: this month I have started walking, a lot.
So if you see me out and about traversing the topography go ahead and beep, wave, or shout, I probably won't respond because I won't have my glasses on and I have no clue who you are.
Still I wanted to break radio silence to congratulate DR. PATRICK TUTWILER on his appointment yo be the next LPS Superintendent. Although I never went to a single interview or watched them on TV, he was hands down on top of the WATCH list. Maybe there was plenty of data, references and a variety of experiences all supporting this conclusion but I am at heart a poet and I just like the way the moniker - SU*PER*IN*TEN*DENT TUT*WI*LER rolls off your tongue.
Okay I know it's not the most rational or logical way to reach a conclusion but if I wanted to think that way I would have gotten a Ph. D. in chemistry where I could have made some serious jack instead of the poor disabled poet I've become.

CROSSING LINES WHEN BARRIERS REMAIN
Lynn City Council lines up against charter expansion
By fighting a battle you've already lost,
No one sees the long term cost.
After public schools die,
Charters will ask how instead of why
Classrooms will suddenly become crowded
When there's no where else to go.
The future will become clouded
And corporations will say "Whoa,"
"We didn't signup for this!"
Charters will go bust
And they'll be no public schools left for those the lottery do miss
Thanks to businesses' money lust.
Toothless resolutions are a waste of time
Rather the focus should be on a practical way out of thisbind.

POST ELECTION BLUES
Do you think thinks will change?
Stop it, don't make me laugh.
Serious problems were left behind
While real solutions are are rare
Because the truth is not kind.
The classrooms will still be crowded.
Answers have not really given
So local education's future remains clouded.
The city's coffers will still be low
Given the trouble with the state and the feds
Where will they now go?
It's easier to campaign than to govern.
From where will the money come?
Especially when raising taxes are such a concern.
The state mandates how much we must spend
Looks like services will be slashed.
That means campaign promises will come to an end.

SANDRA SEES NEEDS
MAGEE IS THE MOST
Honored to meet candidate for MAYOR of LYNN THOMAS MAGEE. Senator MAGEE has such a steller resume of public service leaves me in awe.
DONNA ALWAYS DOES RIGHT
How great it was to get to spend a little time with long time when I was at RICK FORD, COUNCILOR-AT-LARGE CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF PARTY with LYNN SCHOOL COMMITTEE member DONNA COPPOLA. Not only did I work with her for years at the Department of Mental Retardation but also I have cherished her as a dear and trusted friend. Her tireless crusading for the students of Lynn has always been inspiring for me. I can only hope to be as half the advocate for parent and student's rights as she has been.

SLUSH GOES THE FUND
Then again maybe we need to look back through some corrective lenses. What role does the servicing of that debt in the city's current financial crisis? Don't forget an extra $4 million or so was added onto that bond to pay for the demolition of that supposedly inhabitable school. Now I thought I heard yalk about the possibility of selling it to a potential private developer and if so what happens to the money supposedly set aside for its demolition?
Could the money we are paying to service this debt have allowed us to release some of the pressure on the tightening of our public service budgets? There are no easy answers but we got to ask probing questions to get the best answers.

TIME FOR REBIRTH
I am still poor, disabled, and able to turn a phrase. What is different is I feel the need to share my unique perspective and insight into what looks to be an increasingly troublesome outlook for public education, all manners of education for that matter. Consequently I've decided to get serious in my delivery of my goals for a better education. I hope they are yours as well!

STEPPING FORWARD BY STEPPING OUT
It is the leveraging of community resources that will provide SMART GROWTH for our cash strapped educational system. Thank you Drew for your leadership in this area.
RESULTS ORIENTED
As Taso Nilolalakopoulos, Candidate for Councilor-At-Large pointed out in his remarks the other night, the city of Lynn has an obligation to appropriately educate 100% of our students not just the minority that go on to college. A majority of the city budget goes to the schools and it is in our future's best interest to make sure that we provide a variety of pathways that our students can achieve success. Since he is a owner of the popular JOHN'S ROAST BEEF and a former president of LYNN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, I look forward to picking his brain over the course of the campaign to develop innovative approaches to solving our problems.

ANOTHER RUN? THIS COULD BE SERIOUS
Unfortunately a dark cloud of impending devastation looms over the school system and some people have pushed me to run for SCHOOL COMMITTEE and stressed that I may be the best person to point out these dangers so we can avoid them in order to avoid falling further behind. Of course there is the added reason Trippy threatened me if I didn't run he was going to pull papers and run himself. Ha ha, he needs to devote his attention to being a freshman at Salem State.
