HOME SCHOOL HISTORY

In what the law deems an annual practice, the school committee has rubber stamped a list of home school plans.

Thanks to the law there is very little the school committee could do to prevent some one who wanted to home school. Legally they are more in a support and advisory role. It is settled law. What was unsettling was certain school committee members trying to pick a person's right apart to possibly score political points. Don't worry CHUCK, I ain't mentioning nobody's names.

Don't be mistaken no one person went witch hunting alone. DR. LATHAM was always trying to give ammo for his gun. JOHN FORD who proposed delegating the formal approval of such plans to DR. LATHAM after finally coming to the conclusion that the LSCC can do little about it anyway. In the past he had been one of CHUCK'S hunting partners.

There were other lawyers involved in this past scuffles. The one particular family that always seemed to be the object of scrutiny was represented by the HOME SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (I don't know the actual name of the group but you get the idea) who schooled them yearly on the relevant legal codes.

Hopefully this delegation means the problem will never again recurr or at least it means you won't see it.

TIGERS MAUL CHELSEA, 34-0

Using a multi-pronged running attack and an overpowering defense, TECH had its way with an overmatched CHELSEA team. Boasting some 63 player, LTVI has a chance to be something special this year. And thanks LPS for the new uniforms.

SECURITY SHAM

Some people might say this post is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to shamelessly share a picture of my son with unsuspecting readers. Honestly you would almost be 100% correct.

I SAID ALMOST.

You see earlier this year, so early in fact it was last year. LAST SCHOOL YEAR that is, JOHN FORD raise concerns about school security during election times. The argument being LPS has spent so much time and money upgrading everyday security that it just seems ludicrous to throw caution into the wind the few times we end up having an election during school time.

Well that was last year even though it was earlier this year and since the SPECIAL ELECTION was on such short notice, options were limited. Promises were made of perhaps extra security at the schools and that seemed to alleviate the immediate concern. It should be noted that the MAYOR was absent when this idea was discussed in subcommittee so when it was put forth to the full committee it was passed without any details. Keep in mind that the MAYOR has the ultimate final say on who gets paid since NO money gets paid that doesn't pass through her cute little hands.

Well that SPECIAL ELECTION came, I voted, and probably in violation of some obscure election law I took a wide angle photograph showing one sitting police officer in the entire gymnasium where the voting was taking place.

This year, which is actually the next school year, same chair but different officer. I may be wrong, I am often, but I really didn't see any security upgrade. Honestly, given the sad financial state the city is in maybe that's all the safety we could afford. That's okay, we all have to live in reality not like on reality TV. That's okay, we're all a little too paranoid thanks to people like me. I just hate the hypocrisy just so some people can sleep a little better. Must not be any mirrors in their house.

Really? All that went on last night and this is the story the ITEM first comes up with? I got to tell you when I seen that reporter there at the meeting with her laptop I was intimidated. I somehow felt like less of a man.

She pretty much stayed until the end of the meeting and everything. I know she didn't spend as long as me but thats because she probably wasn't dependant on someone for a ride home. When she zipped up her laptop case, I tell you I got chills down my spine.

After a restless night filled with nightmares of journalistic persecution, it was with streams of cold sweat flowing down my face, the salty liquid burning my eyes as I turned on my computer to view the ITEM page. Then I quickly saw this fluff piece and I started to breath regularly again.

So it looks like I owe the ITEM a debt of gratitude, it would seem they consciously left the best stuff for me like the fact the LSC approved the Pickering building committee's recommendation for the two site plan for building new schools. GENE RAYMOND/GENE RAYMOND DESIGN & LYNN STAPLETON/PROJECT MANAGER, LEFTFIELD gave a detailed presentation of all 13 possible locations and the rationale they used to come to the conclusion they did.

As much as I like to disagree, I have to admit a ppretty convincing argument was presented but I can guarantee you this - "No matter which site is chosen, somebody will be furious!".

Well it's that time of year again and I am already seeing posts from parents about the expensive required supplies lists teachers send home. If your child attends a public school in Massachusetts please read the information in the following link. Some of the expensive items on those lists, such as a graphing calculator, must actually be provided free of charge by the school.

The 8th World Music Festival will be held on Saturday, September 17^th, 1 – 6:30 pm at Lynn Heritage Waterfront Park.

North Shore residents speak dozens of languages. Culture diversity is an economic generator. Woven together, diversity adds a great deal to our lives. Our Festival is the time each year that immigrants and ethnic groups celebrate each others' music, art, and food.

The performers:

· KAYA: Cambodian-American youth dancers

· Jossue Giron, 8 year old mariachi, star on La Vox

· John Hicks: Joe Hill and songs of the labor movement

The festival is free. Donation go to the musicians. Donations of $100 or more will be noted on programs and press releases. Businesses may rent tables for $ 200.

Hello everyone!!

I am checking in with a quick update and I have a few items I need from you!

First of all, thank you for submitting your story! Your story has made it through the first phase and will go into editing in a few weeks.

The book officially has a name!!! "Surviving Brain Injury: Stories of Strength and Inspiration" and I couldn't be more excited to have over 75 stories submitted!!

I will be launching a Kickstarter campaign later this week to raise production costs for the book. My hope is that you will share this information with your friends and family, and express how excited you are to be a part of the book. If we don't get funding.... the book won't move on to production :(

My launch date is November 10th.... if not earlier! I want to make sure it is available to everyone before the holidays, and I had great success with launching my own book on this date last year.... so it's a little special to me :)

As we move forward I will keep you updated, and will also provide you with an "Author Kit" which will include a press release you can send to your own local paper!!

This is going to be so much fun, and I am crazy excited for you to be a part of this book!!

GETTING THAT FOOTBALL FEELING

Looks like it's going to be a big year for LVTI. Okay we lost the scrimmage game but I was excited by some things I saw. It seemed like there was as many people in the stands for today's game as any regular season game in season's past. Especially since some regulars were missing.

I had a feeling they were holding back a little, trying some things out kind of like you're supposed to do with scrimmage games. I don't lnow maybe I'm a little predijudice for TECH but it seemed like STEFAN could run at will almost.
