RICH COLLUCCI, CANDIDATE FOR WARD 4 CITY COUNCIL - AMBUSH INTERVIEW (video)

I love the fact he didn't stop eating as he participated in the interview. That is the essence of the purpose of the AMBUSH. I am trying to catch the candidates off guard, in an environment they're away from prepared speeches and a little off target. It's more real that way. Besides the food at the "BRICKYARD" was pretty good!

AFTERNOON DELIGHT

One thing I learned at Wed. night's School Improvement Council's meeting at LVTI is that they are trying something a little different with the announcements over the intercom for the students. Instead of the usual morning messages, the intra-school communication is being tried in the afternoon.

This idea is a work-in-progress and has not been met with complete satisfaction from all parties involved. However this is what I love about the Vocational Ed model. It is the willingness to experiment and try different approaches that makes this type of education so unique.

I ALWAYS SAY, "NOBODY EVER 'LEARNED' ANYTHING FROM BEING RIGHT!".

SEWELL TAKES STRIDES

DEE'S SECRET WEAPONS

What separates this campaign from her previous two attempts to run for office is the involvement of her family. Not that they weren't just as committed before but the respective ages of the children naturally precluded it. I believe this may well be a difference maker in this election's outcome.

You can listen yourself later when I get the opening remarks up. Dolores's son's passionate speech last night has been accompanied by pictures all over FACEBOOK of him pounding in lawn signs all over the city. Her daughter's heartfelt testimony last night served as a deposition of her virtues. Your family is supposed to say good things about you, I get that. But at such a young age, sincerity does not always accompany responsibility. It did last night. When the video gets up, judge for yourself.

Details of upcoming fundraiser for Haitian orphans. A "casino-night" will be held at local restaurant. That's H. O. A. M. (late night typo).

DINNER DATE WITH DOLORES

Got to go to a fun fundraiser tonight. Always good food at the BRICKYARD, after all its cuisine is TRIPPY approved. Of course that bar is pretty low as long as there are mass quantities. He was very helpful in filming a number of interviews I hope to get up soon but to be honest my computer is running SLOW with a few other problems so nothing is going to get up as quick as I would like.

The above pic I used the painting effect on my camera. I don't have a good eye but at least it's something different. Another DIFFERENT thing was the rare BUZZY BARTON (at least rare for me) BUZZY BARTON sighting.

Yeah, that's him on the far left towering over everybody. Sorry the pictures not better but I need to learn to zoom a little quicker. Anyway he did promise to give me an interview but we never got to hook up (he's not the only one who never got around to me tonight, another was NATASHA M& M (and there were a couple other things going on such as a fundraiser for LORRAINE GATELY. I was offered a ride, I think, to LORRAINE'S gig by COUNCILOR-AT-LARGE candidate TIM PHELAN but my cameraman had a curfew. I do need an interview with LORRAINE.

TECH TRYING TO BE TOPS

Unfortunately I had to miss BRIAN FIELD, CANDIDATE for WARD 7 COUNCILMAN'S FALL FINAL thing last night but I had a couple of things. One was the OPEN HOUSE at LVTI. Got to keep up on TRIPPY'S progress, you know. Got to at least play the role of a good parent.

Then there was the other thing. There was a SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL MEETING that I had hoped to still be on after kind of disappearing last year thanks to the weather and back issues. Let me say right up front, it is my objective opinion that I am prejudice toward TECH. I can't help it. I just think it is an alternative that works for a segment of the student population. Also, I predict that segment will be growing.

It was good to see RICK STARBARD there not only because he is a current LSC member but also a candidate for a COUNCILOR-AT-LARGE position. RICK is of course a TECH alum so his presence wasn't a TOTAL surprise. He left after a bang-up presentation by KIM MCFARLAND the DATA guru at TECH on all things accountability and the ebbs and flows of progress.

With a current enrollment around 857 plans are in the works for a more proactive recruiting proocess that includes LVTI councilors visiting the middle schools rather than waiting on the middle schools sending kids to them, possibly setting up a table at the respective middle schools open houses with possibly parents and/or current students joining them, and MR. BOUNTEMPO'S (LVTI principal) hope for improvement to the school's website so that it "POPS" showcasing the school's many attributes. Also when the eight graders tour he hopes to show them a working shop rather than a shop where they work. Of course having a CHAMPIONSHIP caliber football team helps. GO TIGERS!

BEHIND THE BALLOT

Call this a prediction or call it a WARNING. IT SHOULD BE A CALL TO ACTION BY SOMEBODY!! I will not say I am for or against what I an about to throw out there, just pointing it out.

Being an off-year election, turn out is already going to be low, so an ENERGIZED and ZEALOUS group like the CHARTER SCHOOL parents (you know they are committed otherwise their kids couldn't got in to CHARTER SCHOOL) could BULLET vote and sway this election. So these parents are helping to elect someone who has control over most other peoples kids, just not their own. Kind of sounds un-American when you think about it.

It just seems to me if you want to call yourself a "PUBLIC" school, the "PUBLIC" should have soe control over it.

THE DOCTOR IS AT IT AGAIN

ON-THE-SPOT INTERVIEW CONDUCTED IN FRONT OF ST. PIUS CHURCH TELLING US WHAT HE LOOK FOR IN A GOOD SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEMBER.

LUCRETIA LEADS

According to the posted agenda for last THURSDAY night's LSC meeting congratulations are in order for LUCRETIA WILLIAMS who was named SPED Department Head at LTVI. Since I wasn't at the ACTUAL meeting and TV coverage of said meeting was partially BLACKED OUT with NO RECORDING of it yet posted, I am unable to OFFICIALLY confirm what we all know as true.

THE BIGGER STORY IS "WHY IS THAT?".

MAKING YOUR OWN SEPARATION

BRANDT BRINGS IT EVEN IF HE'S ALONE!

Thank you to Brandt Duncan for taking the time to meet with you to discuss charters a little more and explain where he and others are coming from on the issue and what their concerns are. He appears to be the only one willing to do this.

TIGERS TAKE IT TO THE MINUTEMEN

The LVTI TIGERS made a meal of the LEXINGTON MINUTEMEN 34-0. Today's victory raises their overall record to 3-2 and maintains their perfect, 3-0, conference mark.
