PUTTIN SOME DAWGS IN THE HALL!
The LE HS English High School Hall of Fame Induction will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at the Porthole Restaurant, 98 Lynnway, Lynn.
Cocktail hour is 5-6pm and dinner is at 6pm. Cost is $50.

TIGERS MAUL MYSTIC VALLEY
It was a GREAT day to be a TIGER as the LVTI football team dominated MYSTIC VALLEY 27-0 TO OVE TO 2-2 overall while maintaining a perfect 2-0 conference record. Considering both of their losses were to bigger, non-conference schools and the combined difference of less than two scores a state title looks well within reach. Get ready for some exciting football.

ENGINEERING DISASTER
At first glance you might not think there was nothing wrong with this slide used in the AEP that was "field-tested" last year. I mean you do walk away feeling positive about a career in science.
OR DO YOU?
See way back in freshman Psychology they taught us about "faint praise", "negative reinforcement", and other such concepts that have unintended consequences, "psychological baggage" if you will.
While the overall message creates a positive image for engineers, LOT of people will walk away with this image of what an engineer looks like:
I think there are a few teachers out there that would testify to the fact that one or two of their elementary students don't have the longest attention spans, especially without proper, doctor prescribed medication. so maybe 30% of the students walk away with the image of a dork paired with an engineer. I believe the call that CLASSICAL CONDITIONING.
The same message could have been conveyed without the necessity of exposing young minds to such a negative stereotype.
Remember it's not just the end of a journey that matters but how you get there!

Although I am pretty sure that bus fair to the upcoming MEXICO ACADEMY 2015 DRILL COMPETITION in Mexico, NY on OCT. 30,31, is not the sole purpose of this annual fundraiser, it may well provide much needed funds to build another trophy case to store all their hardware.

I wanted to share this piece I wrote in the Item on equipping our schools to address the opiate crisis:
CHARTER CHATTER
Another proposed charter school for Lynn for 2017.
"This proposed charter school would serve a district or region that, based on current analysis, is among the lowest performing 10 percent in the state. The charter school statute requires that at least two Commonwealth charters be awarded in districts or regions identified as performing in the lowest 10 percent before any additional Commonwealth charters may be awarded."
If LPS doesn't want charters in the city, then getting out of the lowest performing 10% in the state is a great place to start.
MORE THAN WORDS
Proving that his words are not just the empty rhetoric of broken campaign promises, Jared is seeing one of his goals come to fruition even before getting elected to the LYNN SCHOOL COMMITTEE.Maybe it is only a small start but it will pay huge dividends for a segment of the student body. A body that will be in much better shape.
A big note of thanks goes out to RCG LLC.who spearheaded the contributions from local businesses to start this program.
So much for CHARTER SCHOOLS the only ones to attract private donations and oh yeah, Jared just wasn't a towel boy for the team:
