Ceremonial Ending, New Beginning

   

  With all the pomp and circumstance of  a college graduation, three classes of kindergarten students proudly received their diplomas after a year of hard work. Parents and other family members holding gifts of bouquets o flowers and mylar balloons weren't the only proud people in the audience.

Dr. Claire Crane bragged about some high test results and looked forward to seeing these young children access all of the programs and programs available to the older students at Ford, like partnerships with Harvard, MIT, and NASA. Local colleges, Salem State University and North Shore Community College also add to the schools enrichment.

Learning Until The End

Sounds of graduation practice for 5th graders echo in the gymnasium where in a few minutes 4th graders will be treated to a presentation by the Museum Of Science. Discovery happens all the time, we just have to look. With Science we not only learn what we do but also what we can do.

July 3rd, Frederick Douglas Speech @ High Rock

On July 3rd, at 6:15 pm at High Rock Reservation, there will be a festive gathering to hear a reading from the famous abolitionist and civil rights leader, Frederick Douglass.  Frederick Douglass stood for those who had no voice, a person of many great missions, who also has a place in the history of Lynn.  He was a firm believer in the equality of all people, whether black, female, Native American, or recent immigrant.  He was fond of saying, "I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong."

High Rock was the favorite dwelling ground of the early Native Americans, and in later years became the Hutchinson Singers home.  The Hutchinson Family were famous human rights singers, whose songs of abolition and other liberties attracted Frederick Douglass, who joined them in a famous tour to England.  Enjoy the festivity and Fourth of July fire works, from nostalgic High Rock, with great views overlooking Downtown and Massachusetts Bay.
