Senior Director of Dining Services

Dear Kevin,

Given the recent report published in the Item about Swampscott Public
Schools now offering"Free Breakfast" to all their students, a discussion
has been started on my blog, "Lynn SchoolWatch" about the status of this
at Lynn Public Schools. If we indeed do offer this as well, is itprovided to all
schools or a select few for example Title I schools.

Hopefully you will clarify the status of the Free meals provide at LPS so that
I may share it withmy readers. Also could you comment on the current
nutritional value on the meals served. I hada reader express concern about
the history of serving sugar laden products.

I look forward to your timely response and the opportunity to share the news
with my readers!

Sincerely,
Stan

It is my understanding that all schools in the district offer breakfast and lunch to all students. However, free and reduced lunch is based on household income. Lynn has a high percentage of low-income students, so most, not all, of the students in LPS receive free or reduced lunch. School lunches must meet federal nutrition requirements.
