REASON NOT TO RUN

John Ford Won’t Run for State Rep

I would like to think the reason for his for his decision is that he has come to senses and realizes that this NET SCHOOL SPENDING mess needs his full attention. It's a shame that CHUCK and BRENDAN haven't arrived at the same conclusion because they are faced with the SAME problem.

NOT A PERFECT UNION

LPS deserves mad props fortraying to encourage the public to get educated about the plant o close or rather repurpose UNION HOSPITAL and change it from a complete care facility into what passes for a mental health dumping ground for those patients on the NORTH SHORE.

I got nothing against mental health patients. I know quite a few, in fact since I'e been married four times so there are several people who  would say I need to partake of said services. I mean I not only majored in psychology, I worked for SEVEN YEARS in a BEHAVIORAL TREATMENT FACILITY FOR ADOLESCENT MALES and I retired from MA DMR so I am sensitive to the target population. That is EXACTLY why I think this is a bad plan that PARTNERS. In fact it seems almost a CRIME.

PUTTING A FINGER ON THE PROBLEM

It is a different world now but then again not so different. New employees for the School Department are going now to have to submit a FINGERPRINT TEST along with passing a CORI. All in the name of safety. Who can argue that?

UNLESS......you have something to hide or you happen to take PERSONAL PRIVACY seriously. It is easy to start a debate here but you know me I don't like to start no trouble with NOBODY.

What I do feel sorry for these new hires. I think they got to PAY for their own test - $35 for those without a license and $55 for those who hold a DESE licsense.

The reason I say this is not really new is that I had to submit my FINGERPRINTS some 25 YEARS AGO when I went to work for the ELKINS MOUNTAIN SCHOOLin the backward state of WV.

HEY YOU DUCKS, PULL UP A CHAIR

I have heard plenty of arguements about the danger of SHELTER-IN-PLACE. They have been some pretty valid ones but they all have been lacing an alternative. While this idea is not perfect and surely will not work in all cases, at least it gets the conversation started,

Why Didn't We Think Of This Sooner?

WHAT ROLE DO THE SCHOOLS PLAY IN THIS WAVE OF VIOLENCE?

Week’s worth of violence worries local teens

What role do our schools play in this recent uptick in violence? The easy answer is to say LITTLE since our kids spend more time with their parents than their teachers. Really you might want to rethink your position. There is a lot of poverty out there but not all of them are as fortunate as ME. They are the WORKING POOR. Actual family time is a lot less than you think

It's the CULTURE that's created that provides a ready enviroment for violence to grow. All of this HIGH STAKES TESTING and pressure to achieve, not to the best of your ability but to surpass some artificial, arbitrary standard. Learning has lost its luster. Fun has lost. Laughter is not digital.

So administrators pressure teachers to measure what can be measured. Raise the standards when clearly the roof is on fire. Our kids learn what they see. Bullys are on top so that must be the way to succeed. Make them give you what you think you need even at the point of a metaphorical gun,
A word to the wise though, "You never know who's packin" and the pen is mightier than the sword.

TECH TEEN TROUBLE

These are troubled times. There was the football coach that shot one of his players. Reports of BRASS KNUCKLES and now this.

NET VETS

I have been unable to discern
An appropriate level of concern.

Reductions in Chapter 70 money they are trying to prevent
With imaginary letters of consent.

No matter what our MAYOR chooses to say,
In the end our kids will PAY.

LOCKDOWN SHAKEDOWN

A key to danger is the key
Dangling around the neck

For the shooter to see,
Sure safety it will affect.

Just in the end whose will it be?
Here's where prevention amd intervention intersect.

A fair raise is a price too high for the LSC
Economic justicw they choose to neglect.

PAY RAISE CRAZE

It may be TEACHERS we praise
But it's the salary of ADMINISTRATORS we raise.

By an outrageous amount
Through taking account

Of a "structure" deemed unfair
To those at the TOP so beware.

To requests they say that's out of line,
"How can you get yours when I got mine?"

TECH TIGERS TAKE IT TO THE BANK

At the ;lst LSCmeeting it was announced that the CONNERY principal had written a letter nominating the LYNN TECH football team for some PRESIDENTIAL SERVICE AWARD for assisting the FOOD BANK by providing the muscle for unloading trucks and moving boxes.

I am PROUD to say my son was on that team.. Now if I can just get him to pick up his dirty laundry!

LPS PUTS TARGET ON TEACHERS

I hear that each teacher has been FORCED to wear a key that LOCKS or UNLOCKS every classroom in EVERY school. I am sure this was done in an abundance of caution, so that  EVERY door can be SECURED in the event of some LOCKDOWN.

A lot of responsibility to be placing on people you don;t even think deserve a respectable pay raise.

You know what else this new policy does to puts our FIRST RESPONDERS TO THE MASSES at RISK and they want to do it on the cheap. All any criminal has to do is KNOCK OVER a teacher and they will have a key to the kingdom.

WHAT'S NOT IN YOUR WALLET?

CLASSICS FOR THE CLASSES - MARSHALL PUTS SOME MOVES ON MUSIC

Handel and Haydn (6 photos)
Some of our 8th graders (and a few of our 7th graders) got treated to a performance by a quartet (accompanied by a pianist) from Handel and Haydn. They introduced themselves and their roles (soprano, alto, tener and bass) by demonstration. Through the magic of a time machine, we were able to learn about oratorios directly from the composer, George Friderick Handel, himself! Thank you to the Handel and Haydn Society for entertaining and educating us! As usual, our students were very polite hosts and audience members.

TIGGER IS NOT THE ONLY TIGER WITH BOUNCE

The Basketball boys at LVTI will have some new bounce in their step as they welcome new VARSITY coach DAVID LEARY. Take some TIME-OUT to offer some congratulations. Failure to do so would FOUL and OUT OF BOUNDS.

GETTING READY FOR THE SHOW

How did we get in this NET SPENDING mess?
Unless thereis something to confess

Why don't they go to employees past spending pracyices to reveal?
Unless there is something to conceal.

It is said from the truth you cannot hide.
Unless it's up to a judge to decide.

SIMPLE QUESTIONS DON'T ALWAYS HAVE SIMPLE ANSWERS

So we are left to wonder why he did leave?
To solvce our spendung problems just ask STEVE.

It's not like too far he did go.
Or is there more to this story than we know?

ALL I WANT IS.....

Lynn’s past may pay off

Twas the night before DOOMSDAY and all LPS employees did scramble.
Trying to prove to the END-OF-YEAR reports there existed a PREAMBLE.

Through boxes and closets CATHE and KEVIN did dig
In hopes of finding an old letter with a STATE offical's sig.

"All IS NOT LOST" the MAYOR did say,
"I MIGHT HAVE A COPY SOMEWHERE PACKED AWAY"

The fact of the matter is by the rules we must play
Or WATCH our CHAPTER 70 money dwindle AWAY.
